Deutsch Kurzhaars, Gundog training

Test Location: All testing and events will be held at the home of Brandon Rhome and family (Zwinger vom Schwarzen Seil) 576 County Road 187 Athens, TN 37303, as well as the surrounding land of James Davis by permission.

Directions: From north or south, take I-75 to exit 49 (Athens) and turn west onto TN 30 (Decatur Pike) away from Athens, toward Decatur. Follow TN 30 approximately 3.5 miles to County Road 180. Take a right onto Co. Rd. 180 (Clearwater-Rogers Creek Rd.) and follow for approximately 1.9 miles to County Road 187 (Across from Rogers Creek Baptist Church) follow 187 for 0.7 miles to the "T" in the road. At the "T", turn Left, continuing on County Road 187 for another 1.8 miles to 576 County Road 187. The house is on the right.

General Information:

1) Testing will be in accordance with the most current edition of the Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband (NADKC Grey Book).

2) Ahnentafels and current rabies vaccination certificates must be presented to the Test Director before the start of the test.

3) Gun handlers must be properly licensed and comply with all state rules and regulations.

4) All persons present at the test will be required to sign a Liability Waiver.

5) Spectators not accompanying handlers must stay in designated areas except with permission of the Test Director.

6) Handlers of bitches in season must notify the Test Director before the start of the test.

7) No free running dog(s) will be allowed during testing. All dogs are to be kept on leads at all times, except as otherwise instructed by the Judges.

8) To ensure our continued use of the property in the future, please respect the land, do not litter or drive into unauthorized areas.

9) If no pointing opportunities on wild game exist for the dog, liberated quail will be used at the Test Directors discretion.

10) Testing fees can be paid by checks, which should be made out to NADKC. The testing fee is $75 per dog for the Derby and $35 for the Zuchtschau. Checks and entry forms can be mailed to Brandon Rhome, 576 County Road 187, Athens, TN 37303

Weather

Spring weather in Eastern Tennessee can be unpredictable, current forecasts call for partly cloudy to sunny with temperatures in the mid forties to start the day and topping out in the mid to upper seventies. Be prepared for any possibility. However, there will be plenty of room to get in out of the rain of necessary.

Family and Friends Welcome

Handlers:

Remember the Ahnentafel, rabies certificate, leash, collar, whistle if one is used and food/water.

Please have your dog accustomed to having its mouth examined. The judges will be checking the bite and tattoo number of your dog. It is also a good idea to have your dog accustomed to walking on lead and returning to you when called.
